THings to Know

  • In order to attend, you must have an active Boss Ladies Referral Crew membership. You do not need to live in Michigan to be a member, there are plenty online community benefits as well.

  • There aren’t any direct flights into the city of Tulum. You’ll have to fly into Cancun (CUN) and take a 90 minute car ride to get to our hotel. Your package includes shuttle service to and from the airport.

  • This trip requires a moderate level of activity. We will be swimming, walking, biking and standing for long periods of time.

  • You’re going to a small town that borders the beach on one side and the jungle on the other. The weather is generally hot and humid. Bring sandals, bathing suits, light clothing, sunglasses, sunscreen, and anything else you’d generally pack for the beach. Beach chic approved!

  • Make sure to bring cash and carry it constantly. For the best rates, avoid the airports, you’ll get better rates at your current bank, or at exchange places with cash on hand. You can use an ATM, but be prepared for alternatives just it doesn’t work for whatever reason.

  • Tulum is the ultimate bike-friendly town. You can rent a bike and ride along the main street to see all of the little shops and enjoy biking beach-side. Otherwise, you’ll use taxis, which are very cheap.

  • Tulum is a health and wellness focused area. Full of yoga and green juice areas. Your stay includes daily yoga, as well as a healthy vegan & vegetarian friendly breakfast every morning, but when you got out for lunch you’ll have access to many healthy options too.

  • Brush up on your Spanish, por favor! Tulum is such a popular international tourist destination, English is generally understood there. However, you’re in Mexico, a Spanish-speaking country! Not everyone you encounter will speak English, so it’s a good idea (and respectful of the people who live there) to brush up on your Spanish or learn some basic conversational phrases so that you’re able to communicate with locals. If you have any dietary restrictions or food allergies, it would be useful to make a note of these translations.

  • Tulum can get very crowded with international tourists and local vendors. It is common for vendors to approach tourists on the street or beach with several wares in tow. This can annoy many travelers, but politely say "no, gracias" and they will move on

  • While Mexico has experienced a surge in drug-related violence, Tulum has remained a relatively safe travel destination. Travelers should exercise common sense when traveling in the downtown area:  for example, don't walk around alone at night. The buddy system is still a very effective safety measure at night.
